Somalia in a bad place

There have been reports coming out of Somalia for the last few weeks about how bad the situation there. The New York Times' Jeffrey Gettleman does a good job of putting the situation in a readable couple of pages. He hits most of the main interesting points: it's worse than Darfur, it's not getting nearly as much attention from the international community, security was much better under the Islamist Courts, the US are more concerned with the terrorism aspect. The one thing he doesn't really address is the role of the U.S.-backed Ethiopian troops in stirring up resentment and armed opposition in Mogadishu.
