• Richard Just makes the ideological case against Jim Webb as VP (New Republic). I'd put myself in the "he's better in the Senate" camp, but there's probably some wisdom here.

• Roberta Kwok questions whether locally-grown food is more environmentally-friendly (Salon)

• Jo Becker of Human Rights Watch on US treatment of underage detainees at Guantanamo Bay (Salon)

• It sort of feels like George Saunders just crapped out this piece in the New Yorker but it still made me laugh out loud.
